Editorial independence
Affiliate relationships do not influence which gear appears in a packing list, which item is listed as the budget or premium option, or how any trek is described. Gear choices are based on the trek's terrain, climate, altitude and accommodation profile — not on commission rates.
What is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link is a trackable link to a retailer. When you click an affiliate link on Trekax and go on to make a qualifying purchase, Trekax may earn a commission. This commission is paid by the retailer — it adds nothing to the price you pay. The price is identical whether you use our link or navigate to the retailer directly.
Programs we participate in
Trekax participates in the following affiliate program:
- Amazon Associates — Trekax is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
Trekax does not currently participate in any other retailer's affiliate or referral program.
How affiliate links are marked
Amazon affiliate links on Trekax open in a new tab and carry the rel="sponsored" attribute, in line with search-engine guidance on marking paid or affiliate links. Only gear with a verified, currently-available Amazon listing is linked — where we could not confirm the exact product on Amazon, the item is listed for reference only and is not a link.
How gear recommendations are put together
- Budget and premium options for each packing-list category are chosen based on published manufacturer specifications, model generation, and typical use case for the trek's conditions.
- Where a product has been discontinued or renamed by the manufacturer, we link to its current verified successor rather than an unavailable listing.
- Commission rates do not determine which product is listed as "budget" or "premium," or which category a product appears in.
- We do not accept payment from brands to be featured or ranked more favourably in any packing list.
Trekax packing lists are compiled from published specifications and community/user feedback rather than in-house field testing. We do not claim to have personally tested every item listed.

In accordance with United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines on endorsements and material connections, Trekax discloses its affiliate relationship here and via the affiliate disclosure notice in the site footer.
